Australia's video game industry is a highly censored industry when compared to many other countries video game industries with the Australian classification board implementing the R18+ rating for video games at the start of 2013 before this the Australian video game markets highest classification was MA15+ and the descriptions shown on the Australian classification website show a significant jump in what is acceptable to be shown from MA15+ to the R18+ classification. Although even with the implementation of the R18+ rating there are still games being refused classification until they are changed and reinspected such as the popular title "Saints Row 4" which was originally refused classification for the use of "alien narcotics" and a "alien anal probe as a weapon, these have since been changed or removed from the Australian version of the game, although some controversy surrounding this is that the popular and controversial video game "Grand Theft Auto V" passed Australian classification without being censored while arguably just a graphic and controversial as "Saints Row 4".
