Video games come in a variety of genres in a similar way to movies but unlike movie genres it is quite rare for a video game to include a single genre. Most video games combine multiple genres into the game in a way that best suits the narrative and aesthetics of the game, although they don't just throw any two genres together and make a game like they they carefully pick the genres out that work together such as "Action" and "Adventure" which is quite a common combination. It is quite uncommon to see video games with combined genres like "Sports" and "First Person Shooter" simply because they don't have many things in common or interchangeable assets.
